The Penny Red and 2d Blue with white lines added were issued in 1841. They succeeded the Penny Black and continued as the main type of postage stamp until 1879, with only minor changes to the design during that time.The Penny Red and 2d Blue were initially imperf, perforations were officially adopted in 1854.
