Ghana is located in West Africa and was formerly a British Colony known as Gold Coast.
Stamps used in Ghana, from 1875 to 1957, were those issued in the Gold Coast.
From 1957 Ghana issued its own stamps. The first set of stamps issued commemorated their independence.
Since 1990 Ghana almost all of its stamp issues are based around themes and are predominately aimed at the thematic market
