How Empire Philatelists are getting through the Coronavirus

As the World gets to grips with Coronavirus, we wanted to reassure you we are making every effort to operate as normal.

I currently live with my wife so have kindly allowed her to help me out during this period!

Our stamp listers are all working from home so we are following the rules:

Public Health England (PHE) has advised that people receiving parcels are not at risk of contracting the coronavirus. They state that from experience with other coronaviruses, they know that these types of viruses don’t survive long on objects, such as letters or parcels.

However, we would say, to be sure, once you have handled your post

You are probably aware that Royal Mail are no longer using their handheld devices for items that require a signature. This is what they say:

When delivering parcels that don't fit through a letterbox, the postal worker will knock on the door and then step back and await the recipient to answer the door and safely take the item.

Those who cannot get to the door will be left a ‘Something for You’ card as usual. Those self-isolating will then need to arrange for a friend or family member to collect the item on their behalf.

Stamp dealers and collectors will, probably, have guessed that all stamp events, around the world, have now been cancelled. For the foreseeable future, the only way to stay in touch is via telephone, online or the good old fashion letter!

Don’t forget that, if you are working from home, and using your local Post Office, then ask them to use stamps instead of a Franking label.

With self-isolation now mandatory for all but our key workers we are all going to have time on our hands!
