B.P.O in Crete

In 1898 Crete obtained autonomy underOttoman suzerainty. TheCretan State was under international guarantee and protection; after the departure of the Ottoman garrison, it was garrisoned by an international military force fromBritian, France, Italy and Russia.

British post offices were established by the military administration in the area under British control. They functioned in the period from 25 November 1898 to the end of 1899.
